KELSYE ADAMS
Kelsye Adams is a force of nature, blending advocacy with artistry to ignite movements and shake the status quo. Her journey into organizing began in 2016 as a finance intern for the Democratic Party of Virginia, where she quickly made waves, later becoming Finance Director for Virginia Governor Ralph Northam's The Way Ahead PAC. But Kelsye’s heart beats to a different rhythm—a GoGo rhythm.
In 2019, she took the helm as Executive Director of Long Live GoGo, a dynamic platform that uses the soul of Washington, DC’s GoGo music to fuse politics and culture. Under her leadership, Moechella became a rallying cry for artistic activism, a stage for justice where beats and voices converge to challenge inequality. Kelsye’s creative vision has led her to partner with local artists, amplifying the fight against injustice in ways that stir souls and move feet.
Kelsye’s reach extends deep into the DC community. She serves on the Board of Directors for the U Street Neighborhood Association, representing her beloved Ward 1. She earned a spot on the prestigious 2021 DMV 35 under 35 list and sharpened her nonprofit expertise through Georgetown University’s Nonprofit Management Certificate Program. As the managing director of CapitalBop, Kelsye spearheaded NEXTfest, an innovative festival spotlighting the city’s jazz talents.
In 2022, Kelsye joined DC Vote as Program Director, now rising to Director, where she champions the push for DC statehood with the same passion she brings to every endeavor. Her efforts in fighting for equality led to her recognition as a 2023 Black Justice Fellow and her role as the DC Young Democrats National Committee Woman.
With her deep belief in the power of culture, Kelsye is leading the charge to make DC the 51st state.
